Santurtzi, June 26, 2019.<\/strong> CSP Iberian Bilbao Terminal, belonging to the COSCO SHIPPING Ports (Spain) Terminals S.L.U (CSP Spain) group, and the Port Authority of Bilbao, inaugurate the expansion of the railway terminal in an event presided over by the Lehendakari D. \u00cd\u00f1igo Urkullu.<\/p>\n\n

The event also featured Mr. Sun Kai, CEO of CSP Spain, and Mr. Ricardo Barkala, President of the Port Authority.<\/p>\n\n

This expansion has significantly impacted the container terminal, increasing its rail-related area from 13,950 to 41,800 square meters and adding four tracks with a total length of 550 meters. Furthermore, the new area includes a dedicated container yard with a daily capacity of 3,000 TEUs. <\/p>\n\n

Two state-of-the-art ARMGs (Automatic rubber mounted gantry cranes)<\/em> have also been acquired, which will improve the operational efficiency of the trains by 45%.<\/p>\n\n

A project in which 10 million euros have been invested with the aim of improving intermodality, increasing port rail traffic, and promoting the integration of the Port of Bilbao into the Atlantic Corridor, which will continue with the southern rail bypass. <\/p>\n\n

The completion of the project is supported by positive rail freight data for the first quarter of the year, which recorded a movement of 3.16 million tons of cargo entering and leaving the port, representing an increase of 26.6% compared to 2018, according to data collected by the public body Puertos del Estado.<\/p>\n\n
