As of yesterday, land transport operators can only access the terminal using the new access point. The relocation work was carried out in conjunction with the terminal’s regular operations to ensure the smooth flow of traffic.

The new gates, eight for entry and five for exit, are equipped with an OCR system that automatically records truck and cargo data. This process, which cross-references the collected information with data previously received from valenciaportpcs, streamlines the management and handling of land traffic at the terminal. When the truck arrives at the automatic gate and positions itself on the scale, the driver simply scans the barcode or enters the provided access code on the kiosk’s touchscreen.

The project, awarded in October 2019 for €1,992,000, will be fully completed in July. This project is part of the works to extend the railway tracks at the Príncipe Felipe Wharf, which will allow for trains up to 750 meters long. It is also planned to add a third rail to the infrastructure to accommodate European-gauge trains.

The project to extend the railway lines was divided into four parts: relocating the gates, constructing a road access to the new gates, replacing 50,000 m² of pavement previously occupied by the terminal (currently under construction by CSPV), and finally, the actual railway works, which are expected to be put out to tender shortly and have a 15-month execution period. It is anticipated that by the end of 2020, the Príncipe Felipe Wharf will be able to accommodate trains up to 750 meters long, using both Iberian and European gauge track.

Valencia, June 21, 2019 – The Port Authority of Valencia (APV) has completed the relocation of the access gates to the CSP Iberian Valencia Terminal (a member of the CSP Spain group), located on the Príncipe Felipe Wharf.
