Valencia, September 27.

Inaugurated 3 months ago by CSP Spain’s rail operator, CSP Iberian Rail Services, the service that occupies the Zaragoza-Valencia corridor operates regularly 3 weekly rotations.

The service operates from the group’s terminal in Valencia on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from early morning, arriving at the Zaragoza PLAZA terminal on the same day. This means that the service does not incur any extra costs due to night work.

The route used is the railway line that passes through Teruel where, in recent years, a strong investment has been made by various public bodies. The most recent action to improve the railway line is the awarding of the contract for its electrification by the Ministry of Transport, which will be carried out in the next two years. In addition, there is the construction of 8 sidings, each 750 meters long, between the stations in Aragon and the Valencian Community. These works have been carried out thanks to the investment of the Port Authority of Valencia. These actions will improve the towing capacity of the composition, which currently limits the load to 650 tons, equivalent to 22 full 40 TEU containers. In turn, transit times will be improved thanks to electrification, which is scheduled to be completed by 2023.

With the inauguration of the service, the Aragonese hinterland market showed great interest and hope in being able to have a regular rail connection with Valencia. Driven by this shared impetus and interest, a collaborative network has been developed with all stakeholders involved, shipping lines, freight forwarders, shippers, and receivers, in order to enhance the use of the corridor, creating a common, interconnected area of action. This work is ideal for fostering the most efficient and responsible connection with the environment possible. The port of Valencia is among the top 20 best-connected ports worldwide, which means that the development of this corridor is key to the strategic value of companies located in the area covered by this service.

Among the companies that exploit this service, the Alfalfa sector stands out, due to its high level of exports from the Aragon area to Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and China. The shipping lines COSCO SHIPPING Lines, CMA CGM and Maersk Line are the main carriers of these shipments, with whom CSP Iberian Rail Services works in close collaboration. The loads are approximately between 20/30 40 TEU containers.

With this service launch and the base cargo having been established with this merchandise, the company continues to work to diversify the merchandise and increase the number of shipping lines that are part of it. La creación CSP Iberian Rail Services y el desarrollo de este servicio ferroviaria forman parte de la apuesta estratégica de CSP Spain que se centra en la unión de sus terminales marítimas e interiores de manera regular para convertirse en los puertos para todos.
