Madrid, February 16, 2021
Conterail has renewed its ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015 and 45001:2018 certifications for its integrated management system (IMS), following the annual audit by AENOR.
The comprehensive audit of Conterail’s Integrated Management System (IMS) consisted of assessing its conformity and effectiveness. This involved verifying the system’s ability to meet applicable requirements and achieve expected results, and required both an internal audit and a management review of the system. Both the verification of the IMS’s effectiveness and conformity, and the management review, were documented in the external auditor AENOR’s report, which found no nonconformities.
The aforementioned report indicates that Conterail’s Integrated Management System (IMS) compliance level is appropriate for the activities and risks the organization undertakes and assumes. It further states that, in accordance with the annual management system plan, the system covers all organizational processes and that the management system policy has been reviewed by management and is readily available at organizational information points. It has also been communicated through the Business Activities Coordination process and incorporates the commitments established in the reference standards UNE-EN ISO 9001:2015, UNE-EN ISO 14001:2015, and ISO 45001:2018.
ISO 14001 helps manage and identify environmental risks that may arise internally within a company during its operations. ISO 45001 is the international standard for occupational health and safety management systems, designed to protect workers and visitors from accidents and occupational illnesses. Finally, ISO 9001 focuses on customer satisfaction and the ability to provide products and services that meet the organization’s internal and external requirements.
Conte-Rail, S.A. thus becomes the only inland intermodal terminal in the Iberian Peninsula certified in UNE-EN ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018, demonstrating its absolute commitment to the environment and occupational health and safety since 2003.
The company is 50% owned by Renfe Mercancías and CSP Spain. It has operated the Coslada Dry Port facilities since 2000, establishing itself as a successful inland intermodal terminal under a PPP (public-private partnership) model.
The Coslada dry port covers an area of 11 hectares and operates daily train services with up to 12 direct rail connections to the Port of Valencia and other ports in Spain’s General Interest Port Network, such as Algeciras, Bilbao, and Barcelona, as well as other terminals in the RFIG network in Zaragoza, Córdoba, Málaga, and Jundiz, and other rail terminals in Portugal. It has two dispatch/reception tracks and four loading/unloading tracks under a gantry crane and, since January 2020, has been managed by a Terminal Operator (TOS) fully connected to the Port of Valenciaport’s Common Port System (PCS).
The company has customs authorization as a temporary customs warehouse for import and export ADT/LAME since 2009 with the authorized specialties of customs inspection SOIVRE, PHARMACY and PLANT HEALTH, having suitable facilities for carrying out temperature controlled inspections if required by its clients.
Founded in 2000, Conterail has since operated the intermodal terminal of the Coslada Dry Port in Madrid and has become a benchmark company in the industry (given its public-private model and excellence in its intermodal operations).
