The company has a key strategic location for the development of the initiative to grow, open up and globalize the Asian market thanks to its local and international connectivity.
Valencia, November 18, 2020
Once again, CSP Spain participated in the China International Import and Export Fair, which took place from November 5 to 10 in Shanghai, one of the world’s leading economic capitals.
The event was held in person, despite the circumstances, with a high level of security protocols and some content and activities adapted to the digital platform. Of particular note was the opening address by Chinese President Xi Jinping, who assured attendees of the event’s complete safety and praised everyone’s efforts in making it happen.
The CIIE is one of the world’s most important logistics trade fairs, and CSP Spain’s participation is fundamental to further strengthening business connections and showcasing, in the Asian country, the potential that Spain can offer through its port and intermodal services. Madrid, Zaragoza, Bilbao, and Valencia, linked by the group’s intermodal operator, make the company a key player in continuing to promote the “Belt and Road” initiative focused on reviving the Silk Road and further boosting globalization. This year, more than 180 countries and 3,800 participating companies have registered, despite the challenges posed by Covid-19. But, as Mr. Xi stated in his speech, the organization of this event demonstrates the country’s sincere desire to share its market opportunities with the world and contribute to the global economic recovery.
In this third edition, CSP Spain presented its extensive and growing global service network in Spain, encompassing its maritime container terminals, two inland rail terminals, and intermodal services. The group offers comprehensive service to its clients and connects the Spanish market through its port logistics network and strategic partnerships.
During the event, the company outlined its objectives for the coming years, as well as its investment plan. This plan highlights the modernization of systems, the acquisition of state-of-the-art machinery, and the development of plans to improve the operability and productivity of its terminals, as well as enhancing connectivity between them. Regarding the acquisition of new machinery, CSP Iberian Valencia Terminal emphasized the completion this month of the installation of six next-generation RTGs, guaranteeing maximum safety and productivity for the yard. Meanwhile, CSP Iberian Bilbao Terminal underscored the addition in 2019 of two RMGs, which will support the company’s plans to expand its connectivity and hinterland in the area. From this same perspective, CSP Spain seeks to adapt to market trends, which in recent months have demanded greater attention to reefer traffic. At its maritime terminals, the yard area has been expanded, connection points have been increased, and the temperature control and monitoring service has been improved, in response to the demand from shipping lines that are focusing on these special services.
Aware of the current economic situation, the company aims to contribute to the recovery efforts following the Covid-19 crisis through this action plan. CSP Spain, present in Spain since 1973, belongs to the CSPL Group, the world’s largest port operator. This business group has more than 46 container terminals worldwide and handles over 90 million TEUs globally.
