Bilbao, April 21, 2026 – CSP Iberian Bilbao Terminal has received its new Super Post Panamax quay crane (STS), meeting the timeline established following its acquisition in October 2024 and taking another step forward in its strategy focused on modernization, innovation, and sustainability
The crane arrived at the terminal on Tuesday, April 21 at 11:00 a.m. aboard the vessel Zhen Hua 31, part of the fleet of ZPMC, a global leader in port crane manufacturing. The vessel departed on February 13 from Nantong (Shanghai, China), carrying five STS cranes, with previous calls in Rotterdam—where two units were unloaded—and a final destination of Gioia Tauro (Italy) for delivery of the remaining units.
The unloading of the new crane at quay A1 of the terminal’s extension is scheduled for Thursday, April 23, and commissioning is expected to take place during the month of June.

This new STS crane, which will be among the largest in the Atlantic Arc, will enable the terminal to significantly increase its operational capacity and improve efficiency in container handling, particularly for large vessels.
Key features include:
- Lifting capacity of up to 83 tonnes under spreader
- Operativa twin-lift de 65 toneladas
- Outreach of 20 containers across
- Total lifting height of 56 meters
- Total weight of approximately 1,300 tonnes
- Advanced technology for safer and more sustainable operations
The crane incorporates state-of-the-art systems designed to enhance safety and operational efficiency, including anti-collision systems for both gantry and boom, as well as handling assistance cameras, enabling more precise and safer operations. This acquisition represents a qualitative leap in both capacity and efficiency.
In addition, its design integrates technological solutions aimed at improving energy efficiency, contributing to the reduction of environmental impact and aligning with the sustainability objectives of CSP Spain.
The arrival of this crane is part of the investment roadmap launched in 2016, linked to the extension of the concession until 2049, and further strengthens the terminal’s positioning as a key logistics hub in northern Spain.
