CSP Spain acquires 51% of Logitren, consolidating its commitment to intermodal transport. Current shareholders Torrescamara and FGV will remain partners in the company.
Valencia, April 4
On March 31st, CSP Spain, a leading port operator in Spain, formalized its acquisition of Logitren Ferroviaria. Founded in 2007, Logitren was previously owned by the construction company Torrescámara and the public entity Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat Valenciana. This acquisition strengthens Logitren’s growth strategy in the Iberian Peninsula, while maintaining its core identity as a multi-client railway company.
Following the launch of its own rail operator in 2018 (CSP Iberian Rail Services), this transaction represents the company’s second milestone in the development of its logistics-intermodal strategy in Spain.
With the culmination of this vertical integration process, CSP Spain becomes the only container operator in Spain with maritime terminals, inland terminals, a rail operator and a railway company under its portfolio of subsidiaries and, therefore, with the capacity to offer first-class door-to-door solutions with its own resources, thus guaranteeing the provision of a comprehensive service that meets the highest standards of competitiveness, quality and agility for its wide range of clients.
For its part, Logitren incorporates an industrial partner into its shareholding that will help it maximize the performance of its locomotives by establishing regular freight flows on its main rail corridors, taking advantage of the expertise and solvency of its current management team.
This operation will not only contribute to increasing connectivity and the hinterland of the areas where CSP Spain’s maritime-rail assets are located (ports of Valencia and Bilbao, and inland ports of Zaragoza and Madrid), but will also achieve alignment with national and community objectives regarding the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.
