Technology is advancing rapidly, bringing with it numerous opportunities to improve productivity and development. However, we must take advantage of this innovation with caution, as incidents compromising physical and cybersecurity are becoming increasingly common.
In recent years, numerous companies have suffered serious consequences after being victims of cyberattacks. These attacks must be considered potentially dangerous, as they can affect all types of infrastructure, particularly ports, due to their strategic importance and status as critical infrastructure.
CSP Spain joins the EU’s commitment to safer ports
Since 2017, CSP Iberian Valencia Terminal has been participating in the Sauron project, which aims to guarantee a total level of protection in European Union ports. This is a scalable, multidimensional response solution for the protection of these infrastructures, coordinated by the ValenciaPort Foundation and co-financed by the European Commission through the Horizon 2020 program. Since 2017, the Valencia terminal, part of the CSP Spain group, has been involved in the project’s development with the rest of the team, and a pilot test, already successfully implemented in the port of Piraeus, will soon be carried out at its facilities.
360º security thanks to the use of the latest innovations and a commitment to the creation of new applications
The integration of physical and cybersecurity systems focused on infrastructure protection is the project’s main objective. To achieve this, a system has been developed within the project that combines physical and cyber scenarios, utilizing the latest prevention, detection, and mitigation techniques. HSA (Hybrid Security Awareness) is the application within the project that collects all these events and is capable of determining the consequences of any threat, displaying the potential cascading effects thanks to the development of new visualization techniques.
Once the HSA detects the alert, SAURON will provide the necessary information to protect all personnel and equipment involved from any risk to their safety.
This initiative is yet another reflection of the commitment to innovation made by CSP Iberian Valencia Terminal, driven by the values of the CSP Spain group, which works daily to become ports for everyone, efficient and safe.
