CSP Iberian Valencia Terminal receives the new regular MEDCAR service

The leading container terminal in the Mediterranean, CSP Iberian Valencia Terminal, part of the COSCO Shipping Ports (Spain) Terminals group (CSP Spain), received the inaugural vessel of the new service between the Mediterranean and the Caribbean, the MV Skiathos I, last week.

This new regular service, called “MEDCAR,” will be operated by the French shipping companies CMA-CGM and Marfret. The service consists of eight vessels with a capacity of 6,500/7,000 TEUs and calls at the ports of Algeciras, Marsaxlokk, Livorno, Genoa, Marseille, Barcelona, ​​Valencia, Pointe-à-Pitre, Fort-de-France, Caucedo, Cartagena, Houston, Veracruz, Manzanillo, and Moín.

With a length of 270 meters, a beam of 42.80 meters, and a nominal capacity of 6,881 TEU, the MV Skiathos I has made the first call of its new Med Caribe service in Valencia. This new service will increase connectivity for the CSP Spain group’s container terminal.

Both operators have once again placed their trust in the efficiency of CSP Iberian Valencia Terminal for their new project. Its strategic location and technical characteristics make it a key transit point for major shipping routes. CSP Iberian Valencia Terminal boasts 2.3 kilometers of berthing line, 145 hectares of yard space, and direct connections to the dry ports of Madrid and Zaragoza.
